1st XV demoted to adm 1st Division
The League Management Committee has received a request from Burnley RUFC to be removed from the adm Premier Division to a lower level with immediate effect.
Burnley Chairman Paddy Murphy stated that due a large loss of players of 1st XV level to retirements, non-return due to the pandemic and more recently leaving for other clubs has left them with a squad not capable of playing consistently and more importantly safely in the adm Premier Division.
Sadly the LMC have had to accept this unprecedented request and have made the following changes.
All games in the adm Premier involving Burnley are now Walkovers to opposition. The Fixtures minus those against Burnley will remain as they are. This will mean Premier Division clubs will have 2 additional free weekends.
Burnley have now been moved to the adm 1st Division and as of Saturday 2nd October they will take up Broughton's original Fixtures in that Division following Broughton's similar decision to be removed from the adm 1st Division. All the Fixtures on the league website have been adjusted, GMS will take a bit longer but will also be updated. Can clubs check with the Appointments Secretaries of your relevant Referee Society as GMS and Who's The Ref may not be in sync.
The adm Leagues are committed to ensuring our Leagues are competitive and safe for those clubs competing in them and we will endeavour to support all our clubs as we come out of this dreadful time for the world in general.
